Get the feel of your shoe
All of us know that a new pair shoes can bite and they can hurt really bad. It sometimes takes weeks of walking in them before they become your comfortable pair of shoes. Imagine the pain you could go through on your wedding day with those perfect looking new pair of shoes that you so patiently picked up. Well, with a little bit of planning you will not have to suffer in your bridal shoes.
It is advisable to break into your bridal shoes. Start wearing them a month in advance if possible. If this is not possible, try and spend as much time you can in those shoes. It is good to start out slowly. Maybe an hour a day to start with will be good. Once you get comfortable with an hour of walking in the shoes, you could graduate to longer periods. By the time your wedding day dawns you should feel comfortable to be in your pair of shoes for the whole day. You needn’t practice outdoors; chances are your shoes will get spoilt. Stay indoors when you are walking around in your new pair.
This was about getting the shoes to fit you well and keep you comfortable, so that they don’t pinch you nor you have any blisters on your special day. You also can do something to your shoes so that they give you that extra grip. One way is to use a sand paper to polish the sole. You could also fix some rough tapes to the sole. This will prevent you from slipping on those polished tiles.
If you aren’t used to wearing heels and your bridal shoes have heels, it is a good idea that you learn to walk in them. Not just walk straight but also be prepared for the various moves you might need to take. Take care that your posture is right and the heels make you look tall and elegant. As you get out of your car to walk towards the church you might have to dodge a puddle on the way or a running child or dog. Learn to make those sudden, quick movements with your heels on as elegantly as a bride should. You might have to walk a little fast or step to the side. Be prepared for these.
In all probability you will have to climb up and down some set of stairs – maybe steps leading to the church and in the church the steps to the altar. Practice climbing up and down the stairs. When you climb up, make sure both the heel and the sole touch the step at the same time. Only after you have firmly placed your feet completely on the step should you start climbing. When climbing down make sure the sole is firmly placed on the step below before you start.
Next you probably also need to practice turning around. When the wedding ceremony starts you will be standing next to the groom facing the altar. Learn to gracefully turn around to take your walk down the aisle as man and wife. It is better to start the turn by moving your foot that is closer to the groom in the direction towards the groom. You take a half turn which will bring you face to face with the groom. Then with your foot which is closer to the congregation complete the rest of the turn facing the congregation and the aisle. Practicing these turns can also help you through the dance.
Make sure to do this and be assured of comfort for your feet on the wedding day.
